Pope Julius commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel fresco in 1508. He did not want to do it as he was a sculpture, not a painter. At one point, he called the work “torture.”

It took four years of difficult and arduous work to complete and he suffered permanent health issues after its completion. The masterpiece now stands as one of the world’s most beautiful and beloved works of art.

God is working on you. We see broken, He sees mended. We see blemished, He sees beautiful. Like Michelangelo, God is not in a hurry. The best masterpieces take time and meticulous attention to detail.

As you begin a new week after celebrating Holy Week and Easter, welcome and embrace the truth that you are a masterpiece in the making. Speak aloud this verse throughout your day and remember, you are His masterpiece in the making. - Pastor Jimmy
