It is easy to get caught up in doom scrolling and endlessly perusing social media sites. You have to stop and wonder, “What am I really looking for? Belonging, attention, friendship, notoriety, the next trend, to not feel left out?”
I’m not against social media per se, but I have to check my motives and intent regularly. It can reveal an unhealthy tendency to search for significance beyond the boundaries of my identity in Christ as a citizen of the Kingdom of God.
Ask the questions, “Why am I posting this? Am I posting this to build up or to tear down, to encourage others or to validate myself?” I’m finding the more “I seek first His kingdom,” the less I long for the kingdoms of this world. - Pastor Jimmy
