Good Friday, Holy Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday, Black Friday. All names given to commemorate the day the Innocent One was crucified for the remission of sin for any and all who would receive His gift. A free gift for us, but it cost Him dearly.

When Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?,” the gravity of the moment could not be contained. The sun hid, the earth shook, terra firma fractured, tombs burst open, the veil of the Temple was ripped from top to bottom, heaven and hell held their breath.

Jesus willingly shed his blood for you, not only for the forgiveness of sin, but to completely strip sin of its dominion and power over your life. The snake was defanged, his authority nullified by the bravest act ever recorded in eternity.

On this Good Friday, take time to thoughtfully read the gospel narrative, Matthew 27:1-62. Enter in to the events that unfold with your sanctified imagination. Feel the weight and gravity of the moment, give thanks, and worship the Lamb that was slain on your behalf. - Pastor Jimmy
