Jesus is our model for engaging the culture. Whether it was the Pharisees, a Governor, the public square, a synagogue, or the marketplace, He was fully involved in the world in which He lived. He was consumed with zeal.
Somewhere along the way, perhaps due to comfort and ambivalence, we, the Church, pushed away from the public square and marginalized ourselves. We were not silenced. We silenced ourselves.
In the words of Dr. William Federer, “Silence equals consent.”
It is time to re-enlist and re-engage the world God has called us to reach and disciple. It will not come easy, but does anything of great value ever come easy?
Step one: confess that we have been hesitant to stand up and speak up when faced with what does not please God. Step two: stand up. When others bow and cower, keep standing. Are you ready? - Pastor Jimmy
