I once took a full 5-gallon water bottle, put one drop of a mysterious liquid into the bottle, and invited a man from the congregation to come to the platform and take a drink from the bottle. He would not do it. We all had a good laugh, then I drove the point home:
If one impure drop can contaminate 5 gallons of pure drinking water, how much more can we, by allowing one tiny ungodly attitude or action, contaminate or defile our own body, mind, or spirit? It was a poignant moment and clearly made the point.
Paul reminds us to purify ourselves from that which contaminates, completing the work of holiness out of respect for God. God is calling the Church to holiness and purity so Christ’s light will shine bright in a world that is growing darker by the day. - Pastor Jimmy
