Whenever you see words or phrases repeated in the scriptures, pay attention and take note of what is being emphasized. The apostle was clear and emphatic that when difficult times and evil days come, our response is to armor up and stand.
We don’t lean; we stand.
The Greek word for stand, ἵστημι (histēmi), means to remain immovable, to stay ready and prepared; the quality of one who does not hesitate, does not waver, is not moved. This is what Paul meant when he wrote, “Stand firm.”
As events in the world progress on the prophetic timetable, you will be called upon more and more to stand your ground. You must “put on the full armor of God,” and you must “Stand firm.”
As you do, your witness to the world will speak volumes, and others will want to know how you can live up in a down world when others are giving in to the culture around them. Don’t lean, stand! - Pastor Jimmy
