When Jesus spoke, it was compelling to those who heard; “They were astonished at His teaching.” Jesus’ message was marked by authority. The Greek word “exousia” refers to the power, authority, or jurisdiction that someone possesses to fulfill His mission on earth.
Jesus conferred authority upon his disciples on several occasions to fulfill their kingdom assignments. “Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’” - John 20:21
