My parents always taught us to tell the truth, no matter the consequences. Throughout adolescence, I had many opportunities to tell the truth about myself, and yes, there were consequences when I did so. However, I slept well at night, free from guilt, and I'm grateful for the lessons.
Jesus also taught that by knowing (by experiencing) the truth, it would make us free. He was not speaking of the concepts of truth, but He was revealing that truth is a person and that truth was Jesus Himself.
He had told them, "I am the truth." Truth is not an idea; truth is a person, and it is by knowing that person that freedom becomes a reality. Laws and documents will never bring real freedom; it is only the person of Jesus who truly makes us free. Happy Freedom Day! - Pastor Jimmy
