It is easy to be distracted and preoccupied and miss Jesus altogether. Mary was overwhelmed with trauma, shock, and grief. She did not expect to see him alive when she went to the tomb.
He called her name and there he was, hidden in plain sight. He called her name. The voice was familiar and it set off a cascade of visceral emotions.
Too often, like Mary and for different reasons, we don’t expect to see or experience Jesus.
Then he calls us by name. It’s not a thunderclap or the rumble of a tectonic shift; it’s a still, small voice, a gentle whisper. And there He is, hidden in plain sight.
As we worship together as a people of faith today, may we expect Him, look for Him, and listen for His voice as He calls you by name. - Pastor Jimmy
