The warning is clear: Perilous times will come, and they are here. The definition means hard to do, take, or bear; dangerous, harsh, fierce, savage. We are in the period designated as the last days. It's His shot over the bow to awaken.
Paul gave Timothy a heads-up of what was coming. In this same passage, he writes, "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." (V12) Paul's exhortation speaks to the value of God's Word:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Don't be surprised when you are persecuted and resisted as you continue to awaken and grow in your faith. He warned us it was coming. However, we have been given His Word as a steadfast anchor in the hardest of times. - PJ
