Journal Entry: July 12, 2024
Note: Today’s “devo” is from my personal journal. It was not written for others to read, but I felt it appropriate to share.
“If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” - President Ronald Reagan
This statement from Psalm 33:12 can be looked at rhetorically: "Cursed is the nation whose god is not the Lord." It has a different ring to it, doesn't it? Lest we think judgment is only an Old Covenant reality, "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God." (1 Peter 4:17a)
How many shots over the bow must we see and hear before we respond to God's call to national repentance? God has spoken; are we listening?
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV84) If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
I believe there is hope. There is still time to turn. We can repent and turn back to God as a nation. It's not over, but we must respond to God's call.
Proverbs 11:11 (NIV84) Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.
We must pray and contend for revival. The conditions are right for a Third Great Awakening. Why not here? Why not now? Could it be that while we are waiting on God, He is waiting on us? May we press in and seek Him.
Isaiah 55:6-7 (NIV84) 6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
God help us to humble ourselves as a nation, pray, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways, trusting that You will hear from heaven, will forgive our national sins, and will heal our land. Maranatha Lord Jesus. Amen.- Pastor Jimmy
