There is something about putting on a uniform, whether it be as an athlete, military officer, or first responder. It identifies one with a particular skill or role. I always felt bigger, stronger, and more confident when I put on my football uniform before a Friday night game.
Paul, the missionary, reminds us to “put on the new self, created in the likeness (image) of God.” I have a morning practice that has become galvanized over the years. I make coffee, pray, read scripture, write a daily devotion, and journal.
I am putting on the uniform of the “new self” that identifies me as an apprentice of Jesus. How do you put on your uniform of your new self? Do you have a daily rhythm or practice that identifies you as a disciple of Jesus?
