One of several markers of genuine revival and spiritual awakening is a hunger for and a return to the Word of God. The theological term is “Reformation.” Revival, which is a return to the presence and power of God, will not happen apart from embracing God’s standard as given in the Bible.
In one of the greatest revivals recorded in the Bible, the people of Israel gathered together and, “They told Ezra to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses.” The Word of God, the Torah, had been recovered during the reconstruction of the wall around Jerusalem during Nehemiah’s reform.
As the Words of God were read aloud for hours at a time on an elevated platform above the people, conviction fell upon them and they wept before Ezra as they received the Word and repented. They embraced and experienced an unprecedented spiritual awakening!
Few would argue that we need to recover God’s presence, power, word, will, and ways in our land. We need an unprecedented move of God in our generation. We have biblical and historical precedence. Why not here? Why not now? Join me in praying for reformation and revival. - Pastor Jimmy
