David’s oldest brother was not going easy on his younger sibling. David could not believe that the boastful and arrogant Goliath was standing before the army of God, spewing belittling insults and taunts.
He wanted to know what was in it for the man who would face and defeat this enemy of Israel. Eliab quickly launched into big brother mode and condescended to the youngest. David responded, “...is there not a cause?”
David was driven to action by a righteous cause. He knew what was happening was not in alignment with the will and purposes of God. He was compelled to act because something needed to change.
We too face situations where there is a cause. Like David, we must engage, speak up, and act when we see that things are out of alignment with God’s heart, purposes, and will. Look around, “Is there not a cause?” - Pastor Jimmy
