I appreciate how real and human the Bible is. Young Jesus pulled a stunt by staying behind when his family loaded up to return to Galilee.
I can only imagine how Mary, aka Mom, reacted when she realized he was not with them after a full day of travel. Shock. Alarm. Horror. Parents get it.
After three days, they found him in the temple, sitting with the teachers, listening, and asking questions. His acumen astounded those present.
Jesus’ reply to his frantic mother? “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” Don’t discount or diminish the humanity of Scripture.
These were people with real emotions. When you open your Bible, enter into the human experience. Read with your heart as well as your mind. - PJ
