A crowd was clamoring around Jesus and it was difficult to tell who they were so excited about. Then, he heard it was Jesus.
He would have kept moving along the road, but Blind Bart called out the Messianic name, “Son of David!” It stopped Jesus in His tracks.
The phrase “Son of David” was not merely a recognition of Jesus’ human lineage but also an expression of faith in His divine authority and mission.
Blind Bart threw his cloak aside, i.e., he tossed his old identity and embraced something new. Even better than his sight, he received Jesus.
No theatrics. The Bible reports, “he received his sight and followed Jesus.” Skip the grandstanding, toss your old garment, and follow Jesus. - PJ
