Our tendency is to fold when others come against us. In the name of unity and getting along, we cower and placate, hoping the tension or conflict will go away.
David’s confidence was forged out of the crucible of life-threatening circumstances, certain that God would never leave or forsake him.
David’s history in God proved that he need not fear or shrink back; he knew God would never leave or forsake him when it looked as if there was no way out of the danger that threatened to take him out.
